Zenit Fotosniper FS122

Until now, the only way to shoot Photos over long distance was by using a conspicuous and cumbersome tripod. Today, detectives, naturalists and professional photographers discovered the easier way - The Photosniper.

PHOTOGRAPHIC SET PERFORMANCE
FS-122 photographic set combines all the advances in the production field of FOTOSNIPERS, lenses and photographic accessories providing high quality pictures. FS-122 photographic set is an efficient advanced system comprising FOTOSNIPER, an interchangeable lens and a set of photographic accessories.

FOTOSNIPER PERFORMANCE
FOTOSNIPER is designed for taking close-up pictures of distant objects, animals, birds and plants under natural conditions. It can be successfully used for sports photography as well as for taking pictures of archtectural structures, etc. on black-and-white or colour films.

FOTOSNIPER is a combination of ZENIT-122S semi-automatic reflex camera with TAIR-3S or MC TAIR-3S long focus lens mounted on a release mechanism. In lens denomination index "MC" denotes the multilayer coating.

ZENIT-122S has the following advantages:

  • semi-automatic through-the-lens metering system (TTL system) provides for perfect exposure setting when taking pictures with standard lens, interchangeable lenses and light filters;
  • light-emitting diodes in the viewfinder, indicating correct exposure setting, can be clearly seen both with the diaphragm fully open and stopped down;
  • instant return mirror ensures continuous viewing of a subject before and after exposure;
  • composite focusing device provides excellent image sharpness in various shotting conditions;
  • flash unit connector socket and hot-shoe allow the use of a flash both with cable and cableless connection;
  • shutter disengaging bush of stay-put type simplifies film rewinding;
  • exit pupil of the viewfinder eyepiece makes possible for shooting with spectacles if necessary

TAIR-3S or MC TAIR-3S long focus lens:

  • the lens is provided with pre-set diaphragm mechanism;
  • fully open diaphragm ensures maximum brightness of the image in the viewfinder; this is important at the moment of viewing and focusing;
  • multilayer achromatic coating of the lens optical surfaces is treated for optimum light transmission and maximum elimination of ghost and flare which enable photographing at bright light sources available in the field of view as well as ensures correct color rendition when photographing on color films.

INTERCHANGEABLE LENS PERFORMANCE
The ZENIT-122S camera is complete with one of the interchangeable high-speed lenses: HELIOS-44M-4 or MC HELIOS-44M-4, HELIOS-44M-5 or MC HELIOS-44M-5, HELIOS-44M-6 or MC HELIOS-44M-6, HELIOS-44M-7 or MC HELIOS-44M-7, 58 mm f/2. The lens is intended for taking amateur pictures on black-and-white or colour films. It can be used for macrophotographiy, microphotographic, copying and so on.

PHOTOGRAPHIC ACCESSORIES SPECIFICATIONS
LIGHT FILTERS involved in the FS-122 photographic set differ in their service properties. Light filters Y-1.4x; Y-2x; YG-2x; O-2.8x and UV-1x with mounting thread M72X0.75 are screwed in the TAIR-3S or MC-TAIR-3S lens mounting front thread.
Light filters, mentioned above, have the following service features:

  • Y-1.2x light yellow filter improves colour rendition of blue, green and yellow objects in portraiture under natural illumination, in nature shot under clouded blue sky and in any landscape photography at short exposure in the evening;
  • Y-2x yellow filter is widely used in landscape photography; improves tight colour rendition of blue, green and yellow objects; emphasizes clouds and increases contrast of shadows and remote objects; eliminates the effect of atmospheric haze;
  • YG-2x yellow-green filter is of special value for correct colour rendition (particularly red and green colours) on panchromatic films. It is used in portraiture both by day and artificial light, in artistic and technical photography of paintings and colour pictures;
  • O-2.8x orange filter is used in taking pictures of remote objects to eliminate the effect of atmospheric haze and provides contrast images. In usual photography the sky is reproduced very dark and clouds are bold;
  • UV-1x colourless filter eliminates the influence of ultraviolet rays (for instance, in high mountains) in black-and-white and especially in colour photography.

LENS HOOD is fastened into the front thread of the lens or light filter mount. It is used to protect the lens from undesirable side-light.

Lens hood mounting thread is M72X0.75. At the same time the lens hood protects the lens and light filters against accidental damage when photographing under hard conditions.

STANDARD CASSETTE for 35mm wide film is loaded. The film is wound up with its emulsion layer inside.

EYECUP is designed for eliminating side-light effect preventing to watch through viewfinder eyepiece. The eyecup is installed on the viewfinder eyepiece mount.

SCREW-DRIVERS (1.7 and 4mm) are desigend for simple adjustments which may be needed when taking pictures as well as for tightening up the slackened screws.

CASE has a lock, carrying grips and shoulder straps for carrying the case on a shoulder or on the back (like a knapsack) in walking tours. The adjustable clasp on straps allows for changing the strap length if necessary.
